Let's all be gay for a day

I'm serious. I believe everyone in drug policy reform should be gay for a day. We're you as impressed as I when President Obama brought to the White House the who's who of sexual equality politics? And the event managed to remain a focus throughout several news cycles - a feat all the more impressive as it paralleled the saga of Michael Jackson's passing. I gotta tell ya, those folks can organize and lobby with the best of them. Very impressive. Of course, many went away with glasses half full.

Forgetting Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson was a pedophile. He spent tens of millions of dollars silencing his victims, and millions more on lawyers complicit in his charade. It is disgusting to see the amount of mainstream media fawning the self-described King of Pop is now receiving. Yes, he was a transformative figure in the music industry. But so what? He was a pedophile, and that should be his legacy. To excuse such abhorrent behavior because he could sing and dance is an indication of how society has misplaced its priorities.

Riding that train, high on cocaine...

Faithful readers will remember my recent piece on Red Bull's Simply Cola, the non-alcoholic drink banned last month in parts of Western Europe due to the finding of .4 milligrams of cocaine in every can. I compared that story to Coca-Cola's struggle with the FDA in 1906 over whether or not Coke contained cocaine (which it did). In any event, figuring Simply Coca will eventually be banned here in the U.S., I went out and ordered a case. So tonight, at the beginning of the broadcast, I'll pop the top of a 12-ounce can and buckle up.

Reefer Madness at Fox News

Fox News ran a story yesterday on a new marijuana "study" that suggests smoking cannabis leads to lung cancer. It got a lot of ink, yet no one in the mainstream media took the time to do proper due diligence. Had they done so, they would've discovered this new "study" was conducted not on humans but on calf thymus DNA, in vitro (meaning it was done in a Petri dish...).

Night of the living Den Heads!

Tonight's live show is dedicated to all the fine folks that answered the call to be Den Heads. I want to hear from you tonight! Just give me a call on skype - my ID is thenewlibertarian - or at 1.727.493.2205. I'll begin taking calls around 9:15, after I give the drug-news highlights of the week so far. I'll reveal more corrupt Cops on Drugs, those in law enforcement who have abdicated their responsibility to serve and protect the public in favor of doing and dealing drugs. Unfortunately, the list of these assholes is long and shameful...

Treason is as treason does...

There have been over the years many accusations that our government has been complicit in the global drug trade. But not very often has there been photographic evidence. A few days ago the Wall Street Journal ran a piece regarding the Taliban's foreign support and how it vexes the U.S. government. It reports that the Taliban gets as much money from foreign donors as it receives from the opium trade, suggesting such an arrangement makes Obama's effort to rehabilitate the Taliban soley through eradicating the opium trade all the more difficult. But I digress.
